KASI Information Sheet

What is KASI? KASI is designed to be a celebration of the AYSO experience. In this event emphasis is placed on the basic tenets of AYSO with added focus on good sportsmanship, and not on winning. Kidzone policies will be strictly adhered to in all aspects of the event.

Eligibility: KASI is an event open to any house team in any area.  A house team is one that participated in an eligible region’s regular season just completed or in progress.  Every attempt should be made to have the majority of the players on any team entered in KASI come from the coach’s regular season roster.  All entries must be signed, where indicated by the Regional Commissioner, as a verification of team and player eligibility. Any entry form sent in without Regional Commissioner approval will not be accepted. Any players used to fill out a roster must be from the same region and division as the team entry. Age cut-offs will be the same as those used by the team's home region for the current or most recently completed regular season.

Where: KASI will be held at the Kalamazoo Soccer Complex on Drake Road, ¼ mile south of West Main.

Format: All teams will participate in round robin pool play on Saturday.  Each team will play a minimum of 3 games.  Based on 6 to 8-team entry.  The top team from each pool will advance to single elimination games on Sunday.

Entry Deadline and Fees: Entry forms must be postmarked no later than May 15 to ensure consideration.  Teams submitting entries after the deadline may be included in the event based on availability.  Entry fee for KASI is: U10 and U16-19 = $250 per team and U12 and U14 = $275 per team.

Entry Limitation: Entries may be limited to the first 4 teams from any one region per division to help ensure multiple region representation within that division.  After the May 15th deadline, teams will be selected to fill out divisions, first come first served, based on the postmark of their entry.

Awards: Medals will be awarded to all participants. Players on teams finishing in 1st , 2nd , 3rd and 4th place in Divisions U10 and above will receive medals recognizing this accomplishment. All other players will receive special event medallions recognizing their participation. Final standings for all divisions will be posted on our website within 1 week after completion of the event.

Sportsmanship: This is the main theme of this event. Each team will receive a sportsmanship score for each game played during pool play and for their conduct on the complex during the event. Sportsmanship awards will be given to one team in each age group and gender, that best embodies the spirit of AYSO. All teams entered in KASI are considered for this award. This award will be presented at a special recognition ceremony during the event. In addition sportsmanship points will be used as the tiebreaker for teams advancing to semifinal action on Sunday.

Event Packets: We will be using e-mail communication as much as possible for this year's event.  A valid e-mail address included in your application will ensure timely receipt of event materials.  You should look for confirmation of your enrollment via e-mail 5-7 days after submission of your entry.  Any deficiencies discovered in your enrollment package will be included in your confirmation.  A packet of complete event information including schedules and registration information will be emailed as close to June 1st as possible.

Entry Instructions: All forms and information required for entry into KASI may be found at www.aysoregion211.org/kasi/ . At this site you will find guidelines for this year's event. It is important that each coach read and understands the guidelines before submitting the enrollment package. The following forms make up your application:

1. Team Registration Form.

2. Team Roster Form - Please be sure to include the player's age and jersey number if you are able to do so. If you cannot provide jersey number at entry, you will need to do this at your initial registration. You must also provide proof of AYSO registration for each player on your roster. This may consist of 1 of 2 things. 1. A copy of each player's individual registration form for the current/past season. 2. A current/past season team roster listing the player on a team in your region in the age appropriate division for KASI . Your application will not be accepted until you provide the proof of registration .

3. Referee Information Sheet - Referees will receive a $5 gift certificate to Applebee's for each game they judge as an incentive.  We are asking that each referee judge at least 3 games.  More importantly your help in providing a referee helps ensure a high quality of play in the event.  We need every team to help in this area.
